Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Offer To Author DVD-A's of Advanced-Resolution Transcriptions of Audience Recordings

Dear Readers,

Happy New Year to all. I have just succeeded in using my discWelder STEEL software to author gapless DVD-A's of Charlie Miller's 24-bit/48kHz transcription of Tim Backstrom's recording from Springfield Civic Center 3/28/73, of the Mouth of the Beast ("MOTB") 24-bit/96kHz transcription of Rob Bertrando's recording from the Hollywood Bowl 7/21/74, and of the MOTB 24/96 transcription of Bob Wagner's recording from the Cleveland Music Hall 3/2/81. I authored Springfield onto a single-layer DVD-R, and Hollywood and Cleveland onto double-layer DVD+R's.

For those of you with DVD-A players (and not merely regular DVD players), I'm offering to author DVD-A's of any or all of the advanced-resolution transcriptions of audience recordings currently available for download from the Internet Archive. Here's a link to my perhaps-outdated list of these beauties:

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=172584

Having a DVD-A will enable anyone with a player that supports single-layer and dual-layer DVD-R's and DVD+R's to play each of these shows on a single DVD (per show) and to listen to them over a stereo system. (These files of course can also be played on a computer using a jukebox such as jetAudio, or through a network media player (such as the Helios X5000) over a stereo system.)

I encourage everyone to purchase discWelder STEEL from Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc. of Minnetonka, Minnesota. It works superbly well, and is worth every penny of its $495 list price.

Feel free to reply to this post if you're interested.

Best to all,
deadhead66

P.S.: I did not intend by modifying this post to move it to the top of the queue. I modified the post because I am, unfortunately, a perfectionist. Please don't take me to task for these seemingly endless modifications of a probably meaningless post.

also, i think i have software (Nero) that will burn DVD-A, however, i haven't exactly tried yet, just been listening via the computer so far; might give the Nero a try this weekend, but if i can't achieve success, i just may take you up on your offer for the 3/2/81 MOTB 24 bit source, a fantastic show that should be in everyone's collection; thanks for your kind generosity! ... T.

Dear AshesRising,

Not sure what you mean by your post. If you're requesting that I author a DVD-A of the matrix transcription of 6/21/80, please reread my parent post.

Best,
deadhead66

Great offer. I, like Arb, have Nero, and tried a DVD (audio) but do not have any DVD players that will recognize the disk...dumbass that I am. Assume that the next one I buy will be able to do it...

Will get back to you then.
